Uphold justice for the people, Aguirre tells DOJ personnel

MANILA — Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Thursday urged employees of the agency to remain committed to bringing justice to the people.

“In Proverbs 21:15, it is said that when justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to the evildoers. Guided by these words, may the good men and women of the Department of Justice renew their commitment to be vanguards of justice,” Aguirre said in his Lenten message.

“May we always be under God’s care and providence always,” he added.

Aguirre also reminded Filipinos to remember the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ and “may we take this golden opportunity to be truly remorseful for all the sins of commission and omission we have committed”.

“As we usher in our observance of the Lenten Season and celebrate our deliverance from sin by the ultimate sacrifice on the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, and as we seek the atonement of our transgressions, may we likewise find the grace to forgive those who sinned against us,” he said.

He added that despite criticisms, Filipinos must remove hatred and anger in their lives and repent from all wrongdoings, even after the Lenten Season.

He also urged the people to be grateful for the blessings and bountiful graces they have received from God.

“May our sacrifices, offerings and pious prayers henceforth unite us with God’s purpose to save mankind from sin and damnation. Let us always remember that those who share in Christ’s Crucifixion shall likewise share in his Resurrection,” Aguirre said. (PNA)
