Valenzuela LGU: Duration of suspension depends on NLEX admin

The Valenzuela local government claimed that the duration of the business permit suspension of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) toll plaza in Valenzuela will depend on its administration.

The suspension order imposed by the Valenzuela LGU to the NLEX Corp. has caused the latter not to charge motorists passing through its 7th toll plaza.

Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian stated in a public briefing that the NLEX Corp. holds the decision on the immediate resumption of its operations. The Valenzuela LGU has done its part regarding the implementation of the RFID in the toll plaza covered by the city. NLEX did no action after many discussions to improve the process. This resulted to the imposing of the suspension order.

However, Gatchalian pointed out that only the toll plaza under his jurisdiction has been suspended but the Valenzuela local government is open to discuss the much needed improvements with the NLEX Corp. in implementing the RFID or contactless transaction amidst the pandemic. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
