Vietnam’s vow with PH strengthens

Vietnam’s commitment for continuous delivery of husked rice (bigas) in the Philippines has been strengthened.

Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar asked Vietnam to lighten its regulations and prioritize the importation of husked rice to the Philippines.

In a letter to Sec. Dar, Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Development Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh wrote, “the government of Vietnam always considers rice trading with the Philippines is not only of economic importance but also of significance for our good diplomatic relations between the two nations.”

The country’s plan is to import husked rice to ensure that supply is adequate while Luzon is under the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
