Village, youth polls in Marawi set on September 22

MANILA — Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls will be held in Marawi City next month, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the poll body said the village and youth elections is scheduled on September 22.

Subsequently, the Comelec has set the election period on August 17 and will run until September 29, which is also the start of the gun ban in the city.

The campaign period will be from September 12 to 20.

The last day for the filing of Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) will be on October 22.

Last May 14, the Barangay and SK polls were held nationwide, except in Marawi City, which was underfire for almost five months due to the conflict between government troops and the Maute terrorist group.

However, the poll body ordered an assessment of the polling precincts in Marawi City three months after the May 14 elections to determine whether or not elections may be held on a later date. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
