Villegas orders Lingayen, Dagupan parishes to pray ‘Oratio Imperata’

MANILA — All parishes and schools under the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan in Pangasinan have been directed to recite the Oratio Imperata Against Calamities every Mass before the post communion prayer for five months starting on June 3.

In a circular, Archbishop Socrates Villegas reminded the members of the clergy and the faithful to pray the Oratio as they were able to have good harvests in the past years.

“Following our established pious tradition, the Oratio Imperata Against Calamities herein enclosed, must be prayed in all parishes, chaplaincies, pastoral stations and schools in every Mass BEFORE the POST COMMUNION PRAYER from the Sunday of Corpus Christi, June 3, 2018 until November 1, 2018, the Solemnity of All Saints,” he said.

“Through the past years, our province has been spared from natural calamities thus helping our Catholic faithful to maximize the fruits of agriculture and aqua culture. Our parishioners gratefully attribute this blessing to our Oratio Imperata,” the head of the Archdiocese added.

With this, Villegas noted, “the English, Pangasinan, Tagalog and Ilocano translations may be used according to your prudent pastoral judgment.” (PNA)
