16,615 out of 23,000 test negative for COVID-19

The Department of Health’s (DOH) recent data has shown that almost 23,000 Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) tests have been conducted in the Philippines, where 82.7 percent or 16,615 tests have turned out negative while 16.9 percent or 3,414 have tested positive.

Meanwhile, fewer cases have been recorded in the past two days but according to DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, this is not an indication of the real numbers of the confirmed cases especially since capacities have been extended to 8 laboratories and there are still pending results.

Usec. Vergeire has stated that the laboratory capacity needs more time to be stable and see the true picture of the COVID-19 trend in the country.

In the meantime, the DOH is looking into the recommendation of the Chinese medical experts to have a more effective implementation of the quarantine procedure in the country.
