By NG Seruela

The Philippines received the additional 500,000 procured Sinovac vaccines from China on Thursday (April 22) afternoon.

The plane carrying the vaccines landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) past 5:00 p.m. They were immediately delivered to the cold chain storage facility of Pharmaserve Express in San Roque, Marikina City.

In an interview, Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr., emphasized the importance of the arrival of the vaccines, especially that it is a limited commodity. He stated that the government is grateful for the “continuous and steady” delivery of Sinovac’s CoronaVac.

Galvez said the majority of the vaccines will be deployed in the National Capital Region Plus and other areas with high incidence of Covid-19 cases such as Region 4A, Region 3, CAR, Region 2, Region 11, Region 7, and Region 6. He reiterated that the priority list sequence of the vaccination program must be strictly followed. -jlo
