Several NCR executives cite road clearing accomplishments

After the September 29 deadline has lapsed, mayor-members of the Metro Manila Council are confident about their respective city’s compliance with Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s order to reclaim all public thoroughfares within 60 days. The Department of the Interior and Local Government’s validating team will be doing the rounds until October 5 to check if all cities of the Metro have indeed passed the criteria namely, (1.) Have all the road obstructions been cleared? (2.) Have ordinances been reviewed? (3.) Were sidewalk vendors properly transferred? (4.) Have the recovered roads been properly rehabilitated? (5.) Was there a road inventory for the program’s sustainability? The final assessment by the DILG on the LGU-compliance is expected to come out next week. Any mayor or barangay who failed to comply may face suspension.
