CHED forms group to monitor SUCs as quarantine facilities

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has formed a group of public health experts in ensuring that the state universities and colleges that have been turned into quarantine facilities are complying with the guidelines.

CHED will set the policies, monitor and evaluate the quarantine facilities along with providing medical advice and maintaining the facility.

The local government unit (LGU), with the health experts, guarantees the proper sanitation, health control and appropriate treatment to the persons under investigation (PUIs) and persons under monitoring (PUMs).

There are currently 3 provinces in the Bicol Region that have established their quarantine centers. namely Sorsogon State College, Camarines Norte State College, and the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture.

Treating PUIs and PUMs will be stopped in quarantine facilities. According to CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera III, it is one way to monitor residents coming from other countries and Metro Manila, and to prevent the spread of the virus in the provinces.

The department is currently coordinating with 5 provinces that have plans to build quarantine facilities. – Report from Sandra Samala
