Manila to buy tablets, laptops for teachers and learners

Manila has allocated a fund amounting to Php 944 million to grant free tablets to 275,000 public school students and laptops to 11,000 teachers. The tablets to be given to students will also contain SIM cards with 10 GB monthly data allocation while the computers to be given to teachers will be partnered with pocket WiFi.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Manila said the distribution will be per household to provide access to online classes to all students from Kinder to Grade 12 since only 110,000 tablets will be allocated.

Other websites and applications not needed for the education of students will be blocked to prevent the usage of devices on gaming and unnecessary purposes.

Meanwhile, parents of students have been advised to monitor their children to ensure their studies on the said gadgets. – Report from Louisa Erispe
