DILG: Viral message on community quarantine is fake news

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) confirmed that the viral chain message containing the decision on the nationwide community quarantine after June 15 is fake news.

According to DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, a meeting with the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) is scheduled on Monday followed by a meeting with President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

The DILG Chief added that changes will be made depending on the Chief Executive’s decision.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed that the Chief Executive will address the public on Monday regarding the decision on the community quarantine. However, Sec. Roque stated that the local government unit (LGUs) are already aware of the President’s decision.

He reiterated that the decision of President Duterte is always studied thoroughly and is based on science. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
