Doctor held hostage at EAMC

A man was arrested on Wednesday after he held a doctor hostage at the East Avenue Medical Center.

The suspect was identified as Hilarion Achondo who pointed a syringe at Dr. Russel Carandang’s neck. A relative explained the suspect had an accident and claimed that he was not given immediate medical attention.

Based on the narrative of the doctor, the Quezon City Police District relayed the suspect was given attention. The hostage taking incident lasted for 10 minutes and was immediately addressed by the cops who were also in the hospital at the time.
“Ang triggering factor ay hindi malawak ang kanyang pasensya which is napaka importante lalo na sa panahon na ito… mahabang pasensya sa mga sitwasyon (The triggering factor is his lack of patience which is needed in times like this. We need to be more forebearing),” QCPD-CIDU Chief PMAJ. Elmer Monsalve said.

The police is currently determining the motive of the suspect behind the incident. The QCPD added the suspect did not plan the act and has a clean record. – Report from Bea Bernardo
