Magalong’s resignation rejected

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has tendered his resignation as the contact tracing czar following his attendance in a controversial party in the city reported to have quarantine violations.

In a letter released by his office, Magalong officially offered to resign from his post with the National Task Force against COVID-19 (NTF) Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr. He disclosed that he was involved in an incident where various violations were committed and tolerated.

The Baguio City Mayor admitted that he is troubled over the issue affecting his family and constituents. He knows that the incident is his responsibility therefore he needs to take appropriate actions. He also added that he is prepared to face and cooperate with any investigation.

However, Malacañang rejected the resignation of Magalong as he “continues to enjoy the trust and confidence of the leadership of the NTF against COVID-19”. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
