DFA’s statement on the death of OFW Mary Anne G. Daynolo in Abu Dhabi

PASAY CITY, 02 February 2021 — It is with deep regret that the Department of Foreign Affairs confirms that the dead body of Ms. Mary Anne Daynolo, the Filipino national who was missing since March 2020 in Abu Dhabi, has been found. Her remains arrived in Manila on 30 January 2021.

The UAE police authorities conducted a full-blown investigation which led to the arrest of the murder suspect who eventually confessed to the crime. The suspect, currently under police custody, was Ms. Daynolo’s colleague at the hotel they were working in.

The Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, is in close coordination with the family and the Abu Dhabi authorities on the ongoing criminal investigation surrounding the death of Ms. Daynolo.

Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. assures the relatives of Ms. Daynolo of the Department’s strong support to ensure that full justice is served on the death of Ms. Daynolo.

The Department of Foreign Affairs extends its deep condolences to the family and assures them of the Philippine government’s continuing guidance, support, and assistance in their time of grief and in the anticipated judicial process.
