DOTr: Memo on making PMVIC optional immediately issued

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has denied the statement of Senator Grace Poe that it has not released a formal order on the directive of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to make the private motor vehicle inspection center (PMVIC) optional for vehicle registration.

According to DOTr Assistant Secretary Goddes Hope Libiran, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) immediately issued a memorandum circular on February 11 after the press conference conducted to explain the directive of the President.

The issued memorandum circular states that LTO inspectors will be the ones to inspect the vehicle and that emission testing can again be carried out in private emission testing centers (PETCs). The PMVIC fees are also reduced and are the same as the inspection fees charged in PETCs.
