PNP welcomes new AFP Chief of Staff

The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed the appointment of Lieutenant General Jose Faustino Jr. as the new Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff.

PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar is looking forward to working with the AFP, under Faustino’s leadership, in the conduct of internal security operations as part of the PNP’s mandate to ensure peace and order in the country.

PGen Eleazar expressed confidence that the PNP and the AFP would continue to have a harmonious relationship.

“We welcome the designation of Lieutenant General Jose Faustino Jr. as the new chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The AFP can expect that the police organization will give its full support and cooperation as we both aim to end terrorism and the communist insurgency which have been threatening our communities,” he added.

Prior to this latest position, Faustino was designated as the commander of the Joint Task Force Mindanao and briefly served as commander of the Philippine Army in February.

Faustino also headed the Eastern Mindanao Command based in Davao City.
