CHR: Exclusive entry of vaxxed people to enclosed areas may instigate discrimination

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) opposed the recommendation to make malls, restaurants, and other enclosed areas exclusive for individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In an ABS-CBN interview, CHR Commissioner Atty. Gwen Pimentel-Gana said this may result in discrimination as people have different reasons on why they have yet to receive their COVID shots.

“It might result [in] undue discrimination… Maraming rason kung bakit di nagpapabakuna, meron na bang bakuna? I respect that, but its rights must not be sacrificed because there are other ways… ‘Pag gustong magpabakuna, dapat mayroong bakuna,” Gana said.

This comes after Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion pushed for more lenient measures for fully vaccinated individuals.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) also opposed such a proposal, with a majority of Filipinos still not yet inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine. – Report from PTV News / CF – bny
