Ilocos gets over 46-K COVID-19 vax doses

Ilocos Region received 46,770 COVID-19 vaccines on Monday (Aug. 24) to boost its vaccination rollout in the coming days.

The region’s Center for Health Development said it is expecting the allocated Sinovac and Pfizer-BioNTech doses to raise the number of vaccinated recipients in the next 7 to 14 days.

The priority population covers healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and essential workers in areas identified as high risk for COVID-19.

As of Aug. 24 afternoon, Region 1 has a total of 50,123 cases with 40,094 recoveries and 1,047 COVID-related deaths. Based on the case count, 6,895 are from Ilocos Sur and 14,066 are from Ilocos Norte.

The Philippines has received 48,522,890 COVID-19 vaccines as of Aug. 24 evening, 41,626,760 of whicih have been deployed to local government units and other priority sectors. (PTV News)/AG-bny
