229 kilos of shabu worth P1.580-B seized in Cavite operations, 4 drug traffickers neutralized

Government anti-narcotics operatives confiscated more or less 229 kilograms of shabu in two separate operations in Imus City and Bacoor City in Cavite on Thursday evening, September 9.

The Cavite operations also resulted in the death of two drug traffickers identified as Basher Bangon, 59; and, Danilo Untavar, 51; and the arrest of two others identified as couple Lani Micoleta,45; and Aldwin Micoleta.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Guilermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said the Cavite operations brought to more or less 808 kilograms of shabu of the total drug haul, as 580 kilos of shabu were confiscated in Zambales and Bataan operations—for a total street value of more than P5.5 billion, making this the biggest drug haul for this year so far.

Eleazar said the two police operations were part of the follow-up drug busts in Zambales and Bataan on Tuesday, September 7 which also led to the neutralization of seven big-time drug traffickers, including Xu Youhua who was tagged as the main contact of an international drug syndicate in the country.

“Gaya ng ipinangako natin sa ating mga kababayan, nagbunga na naman ang malakas na ugnayan ng PNP, ISAFP (Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines), NICA (National Intelligence Coordinating Agency), Bureau of Customs at ng PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) bilang lead agency sa pagkaka-kumpiska ng humigit-kumulang sa 228 kilo ng shabu na nagkakahalaga ng mahigit sa P1.5 billion sa isinagawang dalawang magkasunod na operasyon sa Cavite,” said PGen Eleazar.

In Imus City, government anti-narcotics operatives led by the PDEA seized 48 kilograms of shabu from the Micoleta couple during a buy-bust operation in B6-L2, Topacio St., Phase 8, Brgy. Magdalo, Bahayang Pag-Asa, Imus, Cavite at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Seized were the shabu worth P331,200,000; a cellular phone, two identification cards; two passbook accounts, a wallet, and the boodle money.

At around 9:30 p.m., another buy-bust was conducted which resulted in the confiscation of 181 kilograms of shabu worth P1.25 billion.

The operation resulted in the death of two people, including Basher Bangon who was tagged as a top level drug personality with direct contact with an international drug syndicate. His main market is the areas of Visayas and Mindanao.

The Micoleta couple are reportedly cohorts of Basher Bangon. They are known distributors of illegal drugs in the NCR (National Capital Region) and Region 4A areas.

“Nagpapatunay lang ito na hindi natitinag at hindi tinitigilan ng ating pamahalaan ang maigting na kampanya laban sa iligal na droga kahit sa gitna ng pandemya at lalo pa ngang lumakas ang ating laban sa pagsasanib-puwersa ng mga mga sangay ng pamahalaan upang maabot ang ating adhikain na linisin ang bawat pamayanan at ang ating bayan laban sa salot na drogang ito,” said PGen Eleazar.
