Comelec: 52% of registered voters for 2022 elections are young Filipinos

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said 52% of the total number of individuals who registered in 2021 to vote in the coming elections are young Filipinos.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said in a CNN online briefing on Saturday (Sep. 11) young Filipinos comprise almost half of the 60.46 million Filipinos registered for the 2022 general elections.

Based on the Comelec’s data, the 31.41 million young Filipinos are aged 18 years old to 40 years old and are classified as the “youth vote.” Jimenez believes that the number of registered voters will continue to increase, following the continuous registration of voters.
