Baguio halts new leisure travel request approval

The city government of Baguio City will issue new guidelines on leisure travels amid new developments on the country’s COVID-19 situation.

Based on Baguio City Tourism Office’s initial announcement, the Baguio Visita will temporarily stop accepting new leisure travel requests, but pre-approved travelers with QR Coded Tourist Pass (QTP) will be allowed entry on their approved date.

City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Peῆa said they are trying to reduce mobility due to the combined threat of the Omicron variant and the expected increase of COVID-19 cases.

Data from the tourism office show that pre-approved travels have reached over 5,000 daily, especially for the coming weekends.

The mobility of authorized persons outside residence (APOR) and those with essential and official travels will not be affected, but will have to register at hdf.baguio.gov.ph, submit documentary requirements, and undergo triage. – Report from Jorton Campana/AG-rir
