PH logs 35-K recoveries, 17-K new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 17,382 additional COVID-19 cases and 35,382 recoveries on Saturday (Jan. 29) afternoon, bringing the current active case tally to 213,587.

To date, there have been 3,528,796 confirmed cases with 3,261,338 recoveries since the pandemic started. The DOH also reported 70 more deaths, raising the death toll to 53,871.

According to the case bulletin, 97.7% of the cases are mild and asymptomatic, or 8,736 have no symptoms, 199,893 have mild symptoms, while 3,114 are moderate cases, 1,526 are severe, and 318 are critical.

The DOH said 33.3% of the 56,447 submitted testing reports on Jan. 27 are positive for the disease. All laboratories were operational on Jan. 27, but three were not able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

In terms of hospital utilization, the country’s intensive care unit (ICU) and isolation beds are both 48% occupied, while ward beds utilization is at 50%, and ventilators at 24%. In NCR, the ICU utilization is at 40%, isolation beds are 37% utilized, ward beds at 43%, and ventilators at 23%. -ag
