By Meldred Ivy Padilla

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated a total of P600 million worth of smuggled products including motorcycle accessories, footwear, shoes, and bags, during an inspection of a warehouse in Toclong-San Sebastian Road, Kawit, Cavite on March 28, 2022.

The operation was authorized through a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, where implementing team composed of personnel from Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Intellectual Property Rights Division, BOC-Port of Manila, BOC Revenue Collection and Monitoring Group-Legal Service, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines led the inspection of the facility.

According to the BOC examiners, the seized products are “infringing goods” which are prohibited articles and should immediately be confiscated under the Republic Act No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

Meanwhile, BOC remained determined that they will continue the reinforcement of strict laws that will prevent fake products from being sold into the market.  – ag
