The death toll of Agaton has climbed to 175, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Tuesday, April 19.
Based on the latest NDRRMC report, 110 individuals are missing and eight were injured due to the tropical storm. Out of the reported casualties, 64 are male, 52 are female, and 177 have yet to be identified.
Around 599,616 families or 2,079,375 individuals were affected across nine regions, including around 307,000 individuals who were displaced.
A total of 825 areas were flooded in Regions 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, Caraga, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, while 98 landslide-related incidents were tolled.
The damage to agriculture has been estimated at P257,025,441.06 covering 7,625.784 hectares of crops. At least 11,277 houses were damaged, including 10,517 partially and 760 totally destroyed. The estimated cost of infrastructure damages is at P6,950,000.
Only 12 of the 76 towns that had power supply issues have their lines restored, while 74% of the 309 road sections and 15 bridge sections that were affected are now passable.
To date, six of the 41 seaports that affected 8,437 passengers have become operational.
Speaking at his public address on Monday night, President Rodrigo Duterte assured that the government will continue to provide assistance to affected individuals, particularly food, “so for as long as it is needed.” AG – gb
