Marcos Jr. names 3 more Cabinet members

President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has selected more nominees to be assigned in the three important positions of his Cabinet on Friday, June 17.

Marcos picked former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile as his presidential legal counsel, even after the latter announced his retirement from politics in 2016.

The 98-year-old statesman served as the minister of National Defense during the term of former President Ferdinand Marcos from 1972 to 1986.

Outgoing Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has been picked as the incoming solicitor general, while former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Jose Faustino Jr. grabbed the offer to be the officer-in-charge (OIC) and senior undersecretary of the Department of National Defense (DND).

Faustino’s stay as DND’s OIC until November 2022 is in accordance with the one year ban of the appointment of the retired military officers based on the Republic Act number 6975. – Report from Joshua Garcia /ML–ag
