Palace: Marcos now free from COVID-19 symptoms

Malacañang announced Wednesday, July 13, that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos is no longer experiencing COVID-19 symptoms for the past two days based on the latest health bulletin released by his personal physician.

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said Marcos’ lead physician Dr. Samuel Zacate gave him a thorough examination during his visit around 10:00 a.m. and confirmed that he is “basically asymptomatic as of this time being.”

“Dr. Zacate gave the happy news that on the 5th and 6th day of his isolation, the President is now free from all symptoms of COVID-19,” she said, adding that Marcos has already finished all his medications and is ready to return with his in-person engagements.

Marcos has yet to complete his mandatory seven-day isolation until Friday.

“The President’s vital signs are all within normal limit. He has no signs of respiratory distress and very comfortable,” Angeles said, quoting Zacate’s bulletin.

Without the reappearance of any COVID-19 signs and symptoms, including fever within the next 24 hours, he will be released from isolation on Friday.

“If all the aforementioned conditions as stated in the DOH [Department of Health] Protocol are met, the President will be given a Certificate of Home Isolation by Dr Zacate. Until then, he will be closely monitored by his lead physician,” Angeles said.

Marcos tested positive for the second time last Friday, July 8, through an antigen test. He had a mild fever, cough, very mild nasal stuffiness, and nasal itchiness. – AG/gb
