DOH: PH dengue count 143% higher than 2021

The latest count of dengue cases in the Philippines is 143% higher compared to the same period in 2021, the Department of Health (DOH) said Tuesday, Aug. 30.

There were 118,785 dengue cases reported from January 1 to Aug. 13, 2022 compared to 48,867 cases in the same period last year.

This year, most dengue cases were recorded from Central Luzon at 21,247 or 18% of cases; Central Visayas at 11,390 or 10%, and Metro Manila at 11,064 at 9%.

There were also 400 deaths reported, accounting for 0.3% of all cases.

Meanwhile, six out of 17 regions exceeded the epidemic threshold: Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Metro Manila from July 17 to Aug. 13, with Metro Manila showing a “sustained increasing trend” from the same period.
