Monday forecast: Rains across PH due to 3 weather systems

Most areas in the country will continue to experience rains due to three weather systems, the weather bureau said Monday.

The low pressure area (LPA) last tracked 195 km. north of Legazpi City, Albay, and the shear line will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region and the provinces of Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Northern Samar and mainland Cagayan.

Flash floods or landslides are likely in these areas due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The possibility of the LPA developing into a tropical cyclone is not ruled out, according to PAGASA.

Rains will also prevail over the rest of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Norte due to the northeast monsoon. Flash floods or landslides are possible due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms are forecast over Mindanao, the rest of the Visayas and Mimaropa. PAGASA said these areas could experience flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have light rains caused by the northeast monsoon.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecast over the entire archipelago.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the western seaboard of Northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacraft not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves. – gb
