4.9-magnitude quake hits off coast of Tinaga Island; damages expected

A 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Tinaga Island in Camarines Norte, Monday night, March 13, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The tectonic tremor hit nine kilometers (km) southeast of Tinaga Island at 6:24 p.m. It had a depth of focus of 1 km.

Intensity IV was felt in Vinzons, Camarines Norte and Intensity II in Nabua, Camarines Sur.

Meanwhile, the following Instrumental Intensities were reported:

  • Intensity III – Polillo, Quezon Province; Mercedes, Camarines Norte; Sipocot, Camarines Sur
  • Intensity II – Iriga City and Ragay, Camarines Sur
  • Intensity I – Guinayangan, Gumaca, and Mauban in Quezon Province.

Phivolcs said damages are expected.
