The satisfaction rating of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration rose significantly in the second quarter of 2024—with at least 62% of Filipinos “satisfied” with the national government’s performance, the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed.
In its social weather report published on Friday, the SWS also said that 22% were “dissatisfied”, while 15% were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied.
This resulted in a “good” +40 net satisfaction rating for the second quarter, up by 11 points from the previous quarter’s (March 2024) “moderate” +29.
According to the SWS’ Governance Report Card, the Marcos administration did “very good” on helping victims of disasters at +64, followed by improving children’s education (+62) and helping the poor (+51).
The national government’s performance was likewise “good” among five areas: implementing housing programs for the poor (+47), developing science and technology (+46), creating policies that will generate job opportunities (+45), ensuring an efficient public transportation system (+38), and ensuring food security (+35).
It got a “moderate” rating on preparing for problems being caused by climate change (+29), defending Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (+22), and ensuring that no family will ever be hungry and have nothing to eat (+18).
The administration’s net satisfaction rating also improved across all regions, with the highest in Metro Manila at +52 followed by Balance Luzon (+48), the Visayas (+32), and Mindanao (+25).
“The 11-point rise in the national administration’s general net satisfaction rating from March 2024 to June 2024 was due to increases in all areas,” the pollster said.
These improved satisfaction numbers of the administration are attributed to the “untiring efforts” of the President to improve government response and services, Malacañang said in a statement Saturday.
Meanwhile, a “neutral” rating was recorded for the government’s efforts in fighting crimes that victimize ordinary citizens and in ensuring that oil companies do not take advantage of oil prices.
“The survey showed that more efforts are required to eradicate graft and corruption in government and fight inflation,” the Palace noted.
In a social media post, the Chief Executive reiterated his commitment to improving the people’s lives, strengthening the nation, and securing its future.
“While we are elated by this validation of our hard work, we view it more as a challenge to do even better,” Marcos stated.
The Second Quarter 2024 Social Weather Survey was conducted from June 23 to July 1 via face-to-face interviews with 1,500 adults aged 18 and above nationwide.
It had sampling error margins of ±2.5% for national percentages, ±4.0% for Balance Luzon, and ±5.7% each for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao. – iro
