President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has called for the courtesy resignation of all Cabinet secretaries to “realign government with the people’s expectations” following the results of the 2025 midterm polls.

In a news release Thursday, Malacañang said that the President’s directive will allow more time to evaluate the performance of each department and determine who will be retained in the Marcos administration’s Cabinet.

“This is not business as usual,” Marcos said. “The people have spoken, and they expect results—not politics, not excuses. We hear them, and we will act.”

Malacañang stressed that the latest development is aimed to improve governance into a more focused, results-first mindset, and performance-driven approach, taking into account the evolving needs of the country and the Filipino people, “This is not about personalities—it’s about performance, alignment, and urgency,” Marcos said. “Those who have delivered and continue to deliver will be recognized. But we cannot afford to be complacent. The time for comfort zones is over.”

On the first episode of the “BBM Podcast” aired on May 19, Marcos disclosed an ongoing performance review of the entire Cabinet to assess whether government targets are being met to improve delivery of public service.

He also clarified in the podcast that the assessment could lead to dismissal or even legal action against corrupt and underperforming officials.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive assured the public that government services will remain uninterrupted amid the courtesy resignations of Cabinet secretaries. (with report from Kenneth Paciente / PTV News)
