PRO 6 assures safety of public on ‘Eidul Fitr’

ILOILO CITY, June 25 — The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 has assured the safety of the public in Western Visayas in line with the celebration of end of Ramadhan on June 26, Monday.

PRO 6 spokesperson Gilbert Gorero, in a statement Sunday (June 25), said all police units remain on alert and policemen are strategically deployed in places of convergence.

Gorero reiterated to the public to avoid sharing any posts regarding terrorist threats to avoid the spread of misinformation and panic.

Instead, public are urged to relay the information to the police hotline in their locality or contact PRO6 RTOC at 09999955072 or PRO 6 info text at 0949883374 and 09175943753.

If a person finds a suspicious device or bag in a public place, PRO 6 recommends the public to not touch, handle and move it.

” If located in a building, alert the security personnel and if located outdoors, alert barangay or police personnel on patrol,” Gorero said.

Recently, the Hall of Justice in Roxas City in Capiz received a hoax bomb threat that caused panic to employees and the people who were transacting business in the building.

In Guimaras, a black knapsack, suspected to contain an explosive, was found beside the Land Bank of the Philippines automated teller machine booth in Guimaras island. It turned out the bag did not contain explosives.

Thus, PRO 6 is reminding the public that in cases of a bomb threat via phone call, they should remain calm and try to obtain as much information as possible from the caller; listen carefully to the caller and background noise and relay the information immediately to the police hotline.

“Let us join our Muslim countrymen as they celebrate a time of reflection, forgiveness, and charity,” Gorero added. (Cindy B. Ferrer/PNA)
