PAO soon to end Dengvaxia investigation

The Public Attorney’s Office will soon end its investigation on 12 cases of Dengvaxia related deaths, PAO Chief Atty. Persida Acosta assured on Tuesday.

The PAO chief said during an exclusive interview in Bagong Pilipinas that a panel of special attorneys has been made to investigate Dengvaxia cases.

A group of forensic experts, meanwhile, both internal and external, were also analyzing the cases.

“Malapit na pong matapos. Ang pagsasampa, malapit na,” Acosta said, citing the development of the investigation.

Currently, the forensic team has 12 cases of Dengvaxia related deaths and all have undergone different examinations such as laboratory test, blood testing and ultrasound.

Moreover, all signs, symptoms and fatal manifestations, before the children died, were recorded and analyzed.

PAO sees pattern on 12 children’s death

Acosta also stated that the children, who died after being immunized by Dengvaxia, seem to have a pattern.

According to PAO chief, most of the cases that were investigated start with ‘zero-negative’ or when a child, who has no history of Dengue, was vaccinated with Dengvaxia.

These children, later on, experienced nausea, stomachache, diarrhea, vomiting, fever and eventually died.

“Lahat sila may internal bleeding, intensive internal bleeding, sa puso, sa lungs, sa intestines, paglaki ng liver, paglaki ng bibig… at iyan po, pattern nga po yan. Pare-parehong may internal bleeding” said Acosta.

For now, Acosta said that she could not announce who should be blamed regarding the Dengvaxia controversy but she guaranteed that it will be announced by the end of the investigation. (Camille de Guzman – PTV)
