‘Amihan’ to bring rains over North, Central Luzon

MANILA — The northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan” will bring scattered rains over Northern and Central Luzon until Saturday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 4-p.m. weather bulletin, which is effective for 24 hours, PAGASA said the Bicol region and the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, and Rizal will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the northeast monsoon. It also cautioned of possible flash floods or landslide caused by light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.

Cloudy skies with light rains will also prevail over the Cordillera region and Cagayan Valley due to the northeast monsoon.

Metro Manila, Ilocos region, and the other parts of Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon.

Other areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms.

Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon, meanwhile, will experience rough to very rough coastal waters caused by strong to gale force winds.

Moderate to rough coastal waters will also prevail over the remaining parts of Central Luzon due to moderate to strong winds.

The rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters caused by light to moderate winds. (PNA)
