New CBCP officials to start term in December

MANILA, July 10 — Newly elected officials of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) will assume their new posts starting December 1.

Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, who was elected as the conference’s President will be serving a two-year term. He will succeed Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas.

Also elected were Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, Vice President; Palo Archbishop John Du; Fr. Marvin Mejia, Secretary General and Msgr. Bernardo Pantin, Asst. Secretary General.

They were elected during the 115th plenary assembly at Pope Pius XII Center in Manila on July 7.

The new officials will be serving until Nov. 30, 2019.

Likewise, elected were the new members of the CBCP’s Permanent Council were: Regional Representatives, Luzon: Nueva Secovia Archbishop Marlo Peralta, Bataan Bishop Ruperto Santos, Imus Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista, Gumaca Bishop Victor Ocampo and Libmanan Bishop Jose Rojas.

For Visayas, Capiz Archbishop Jose Advincula and Calbayog Bishop Isabelo Abarquez and For Mindanao, Ozamiz Archbishop Martin Jumoad and Kidapawan Archbishop Romulo dela Cruz.
