Military searching 2 abducted policewomen in Sulu

MANILA — The military has deployed three battalions in the search for two female police officers reportedly abducted by armed men in Patikul town, Sulu last Sunday.

Joint Task Force Sulu commander Brig. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said it is likely that the two victims and their captors are still in Patikul.

Hindi naman lalabas sa Patikul ‘yun eh, as we speak meron akong tatlong battalion naghahalughog ngayon for the immediate recovery of the victims [They won’t get out of Patikul and as we speak, we have three battalions looking for them],” he said Monday.

Earlier, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it is constantly monitoring developments on the abduction of Police Officer 2 Benierose Alvarez, Police Officer 1 Dinah Gumahad, along with two civilians, Jakosalem Ahamad Blas and Faizal Ahidji, who were on board a tricycle outside Camp Bautista near the Jolo Airport on Sunday when they were intercepted by armed men.

Alvarez is detailed with the PNP-Crime Laboratory. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
