Antique college partners with BSP for knowledge resource network

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — A private Catholic school in this capital town of Antique has partnered with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for the establishment of the Knowledge Resource Network (KRN),a repository of information for banking literacy and financial management.

St. Anthony’s College president, Rev. Fr. Edione R. Febrero, said that with the partnership, their students would now be able to easily access their needed information, especially those taking up Accountancy.

“This launching of KRN is part of the development that is happening at St. Anthony’s College as students would now be able to access data about the BSP, and the development as well as trend in society,” he said during Tuesday’s KRN launching.

Fr. Febrero added that the launching is timely as the school celebrates its 60th Foundation this August.

Meanwhile, Anna Clara M. Oville, BSP-Iloilo Acting Deputy Director, said the new KRN is the second that they have established in the province. The first one was at the University of Antique Main Campus in Sibalom town last June 29.

“We are partnering with the St. Anthony’s College because it is the biggest private educational institution,” she said.

She said that St. Anthony’s College can share the resources at the KRN with other smaller colleges.

BSP bank officer Lowen Andrew June L. Ligad said that they will be providing fliers, brochures and other reading materials to the KRN, which could be accessed by students and researchers.

“There will also be an internet connection that will be provided so that students could get information from the BSP office,” he said.

Throughout Region 6 (Western Visayas) there are now five KRNs established by the BSP; three in Iloilo and two in Antique. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
