Typhoon ‘Paeng’ weakens as it slowly moves outside PAR

MANILA — Typhoon “Paeng” has weakened as it moves slowly outside of the country.

In its Thursday 4 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Paeng” is at 750 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with maximum winds of 160 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph as it moves north slowly.

The southwest monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Zamboanga peninsula, the regions of northern Mindanao and Caraga.

“Paeng” is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday but would likely affect northern Luzon on Friday .

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorm.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 26-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25-32 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-24 degrees Celsius; Angeles City 24-30 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 24-33 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 25-34 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
