LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Nine campuses of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) have partnered with the police to to help fight criminality within the schools.

The PSU and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO), including other stakeholders, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the creation of the Student Crime Prevention Committee (SCPC) that will ensure peace and order within the campuses.

PPO acting provincial director Senior Supt. Wilson Lopez encouraged other schools to forge similar MOA with the Pangasinan police.

“Makakasama namin ang eskwelahan na magbantay at makatulong sa amin. Magiging force multiplier sila sa loob ng eskwelahan para ipabatid sa atin mga nangyayaring krimen doon (We will be together with the school in ensuring security within their premises. They will be our force multipliers inside the school so that they can update us on the crimes being committed inside the school),” he said in an interview on Thursday.

Lopez also asked the support of their provincemates to “act as the eyes of the police.”

Meanwhile, the MOA signing was held on Monday together with the National Police Commission, PSU’s student council, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Integrated Bar of the Philippines Pangasinan chapter, and the board of advisers composed of representatives from different sectors.
