Malabon flea market offers budget Xmas shopping experience

MALABON CITY — On the first day of December every year, the stretch of General Luna Street, Malabon City turns into a tiangge or flea market — the best place for last-minute Christmas gift shopping that won’t hurt your pocket.

Vendors open their stalls as early as 8 a.m. and close at 11:30 p.m. or midnight, but there are usually more people at night.

There are over 60 stalls selling clothes, accessories, gadgets, toys, food and other items.

Although most items come cheap, some vendors even let you bargain. With a budget of under PHP2,000, last-minute Christmas shoppers can purchase these 10 items for family and friends:

Marikina sandals at PHP180 for two pairs;

Sandos, PHP180 for two items;

Watches, PHP150 for two, PHP80 for single item;

Shorts, PHP50;

Selfie stick, PHP100;

Phone strap/phone ring holder, PHP25;

Speakers, PHP180;

Dinosaur toy, PHP500;

Remote control cars, PHP350-1,200;

and Kultura bags, PHP170.
