ATB up for final review – Palace

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque disclosed the Anti-Terror Bill is now up for final review at the Office of the Executive Secretary. This means that there is now a memorandum recommending actions that may be undertaken by President Duterte.

“Subject to final approval lang po siguro ‘yan ni Executive Secretary at dadalhin na po sa lamesa ni Presidente (It is subject to final approval of the Executive Secretary and will be brought to the President’s table),” Roque said.

As for the measures against COVID-19, Roque confirmed the executive will request for a special session from Congress for the Bayanihan 2 which would replace the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.

The Palace expressed confidence that the public in cooperation with the government can stop the new UP forecast that the number of cases would rise to 60,000 by month’s end. He clarified that COVID-19 is the enemy and not UP.

Palace on Jolo incident

Roque shared that President Duterte is monitoring the issue on the shooting incident in Sulu that resulted in the death of four soldiers.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Aῆo assured that justice will be served and necessary measures are now being taken for those involved. He also relayed President Duterte’s plan to visit Mindanao to meet officials of the PNP and AFP.
