The Department of Health (DOH) said less than 1% of COVID-19 vaccine recipients have experienced “very rare” serious side effects.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Monday (May 24) that only 0.012% of vaccine recipients have been reported to experience serious side effects, while 1.10% are said to be non-serious.
She said the National Adverse Events Following Immunization Committee recorded no direct relation between the vaccine and the said side effects.
Hospitalization or reactions that may possibly cause death or disabilities following immunization are considered as serious adverse events, while fever, headaches, muscle pains, and high blood pressure are seen as non-serious side effects.
