DOH verifies missing patient report, QC adds measure vs COVID-19

The Department of Health (DOH) has been verifying the reported missing patient in Quezon City who tested positive for COVID-19.

“‘Yon ‘yong kina-clarify namin kasi wala nga doon sa bahay. Pupuntahan sana namin for the purpose of investigation (That’s what we want to clarify since the person is not home. We were supposed to go there for the purpose of investigation). We don’t know if the patient is still at the Cardinal, or na discharged sa bahay (or if he was discharged and at home),” Dr. Rolly Cruz of the Quezon City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit said.

“Kasi ganoon minsan eh, mga pasyente dini-discharge kapag medyo okay na, so we’re looking for him kung nasaan na po sya (It happens sometimes that a patient gets discharged if he feels slightly well, so we’re looking for him and where he has gone to),” Cruz added.

The Quezon City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit has been coordinating with the health department on the situation.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in the city has reached 38, while more than 90 have been considered persons under investigation (PUIs).

QC prepares to combat COVID-19

Authorities have shared that a medical facility called HOPE that can accommodate around 40 persons will soon offer free health care for PUIs.

Other than disinfection, a fever express lane was established to immediately address patients running high temperatures.

Public markets have implemented a one-meter distance among customers, and have required buyers to undergo thermal scanning prior to entry.

The city has imposed window hours for market and groceries from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Delivery of food packs and vitamins for senior citizens has also continued. Around 2 million residents are set to receive food packs.

Meanwhile, a hotel chain has offered free 800-room accommodation to health workers in the city.

Health workers were also offered free rides from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) Alabang to Jose Reyes Memorial Center, and from Heritage Hotel EDSA Exit to Quezon Avenue. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla
