Duterte vows violence-free elections on May 9

Less than a week before the elections, President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, May 3, assured the public that the May 9 polls will be “free of violence and intimidation.”

In his pre-taped speech, Duterte said the voters will be able to “exercise their right to vote and choose whoever” they want to vote for.

“Ako, as president, it is my constitutional duty also to see to it that everything that the law will always be followed… Well, you can choose kung sino ang kandidato nyo,” Duterte said.

He also ordered the military to ensure “orderly, clean, and honest” elections. -gb
