Government launches StaySafe.PH

The StaySafe.PH, a Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) contact tracing app has been launched Thursday. The app can be download by the public for free and can be used in all kinds of smartphones.

StaySafe.PH requires a registration of few details including the current health condition of the registrant. Through the app, one can see confirmed cases of COVID-19 within a vicinity.

It also provides a scanner for QR Code used by establishments as part of contact tracing information of customers.

According to Contact Tracing Czar and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, it is a great help in reaching the ideal 1:37 ratio of tracing closed contacts of COVID-19 patients. He added that the current ratio is 1:5.

Mayor Magalong has allayed the fears of the public on the data privacy and security issues of the app as he guaranteed that there are security features in the system.

“It underwent a very meticulous evaluation [of] the DICT, especially on focusing on security of data. Multisys CEO David Almitol has also assured that there is “no surveillance in the individual whose gonna download Stay Safe.”
