House of Representatives Defeat COVID-19 Sub Committee on Peace and Order holds online meeting

The House of Representatives Defeat COVID-19 Sub Committee on Peace and Order held an online meeting to discuss the government’s plan on mass testing and other measures on public security.

In the meeting, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año ensured that they will not be affected by the criticisms on their lapses in serving the country during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and by the interference of leftist groups. He added that while criticisms are expected, they will still persevere.

National Action Plan on COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez also laid out the plans of the government on mass testing. Sec. Galvez shared that government has been exerting efforts to reach 20,000 tests per day before May 15 and 30, 000 tests per day before May 30.

The government’s target is to test the frontliners considered as PUIs and PUMs before May 7 while other “red areas” must be tested before May 15. – Report from Daniel Manalastas
