Legazpi City to host cruise ship, Ms. Earth swimsuit tilt this October

Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal

LEGAZPI CITY – This capital city of Albay is gearing up for two big events this October — the visit of an international cruise ship and Miss Earth swimsuit competition.

The M/S Bremen, a Germany-based cruise ship, is expected to arrive here on Oct. 12, with some 155 passengers onboard.

Mayor Noel Rosal, in an interview on Wednesday, expressed his gratitude to the event organizers for choosing Legazpi City.

Rosal said the expected foreign visitors are all professionals and experienced travelers who are looking forward to experiencing the culture of Legazpi’s people and seeing the beauty of the majestic Mayon Volcano.

They are also interested about the history of the province of Albay and Legazpi City, he added.

The mayor said the visit will be part of the cruise ship’s tour to different destinations in the Philippines.

Rosal said he has directed the City Tourism office to prepare various entertainment activities for the visitors at Legazpi’s southern boulevard in Barangay Puro.

Meanwhile, 30 Miss Earth candidates from different parts of the world will hold their swimsuit competition on Oct. 20 at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation (ICR).

Rosal said the international beauties will also hold a coastal cleanup activity and photo shoot at the boulevard in front of Albay Gulf and visit the various idyllic places of the city and other neighboring municipalities.

“I already asked personnel from Philippine National Police including the City Public Safety officers and barangay tanods to secure our foreign visitors particularly during the days of their activities,” he added. (Emmanuel Solis/PNA)
