Light rains on Saturday due to ‘amihan’, LPA

By Raymond Carl Dela Cruz/ Philippine News Agency

MANILA – The northeast monsoon or “amihan” and a low-pressure area (LPA) will bring scattered light rains and slightly colder weather in several parts of the country this weekend.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather forecast on Saturday (Dec. 4), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Davao regions, as well as the southern portion of Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands.

Cloudy skies with light rains will prevail in the Cagayan Valley and Cordillera regions, as well as Aurora and northern Quezon, including the Polillo Islands, due to the northeast monsoon.

The “amihan” will likewise bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms.

The active tropical cyclone, Typhoon Nyatoh (international name), remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

It was last estimated at 2,325 km. east of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 14 kph and gustiness of up to 170 kph. It was moving northeastward at 45 kph.

Meanwhile, the temperature in Metro Manila will range from 21°C to 31°C; Baguio City, 12°C to 20°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 30°C; Metro Cebu, 24°C to 30°C; and Metro Davao, 24°C to 30°C. (PNA) – bny
