Lower PMVIC inspection fee sought

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade is appealing to the Private Motor Vehicle Inspections Center (PMVIC) to cut down its inspection fee.

Private vehicles under the new existing system are required to undergo PMVIC evaluation. Inspection and testing cost around ₱1,800.

However, there is a different charge for retesting amounting to around ₱900.

According to Tugade, the fee should be at par with the cost of inspection conducted by private emission testing centers which is around ₱500 to ₱800. The reinspection fee should also be eliminated to lessen the burden of motorists and to take into consideration the roadworthiness of vehicles. – Report from Karen Villanda
