The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced an upward adjustment of P0.50 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

The hike would bring the overall rate for a typical household to P11.3997 per kWh.

Meralco said those who consume 200 kWh will have a P100-increase.

Higher generation charges due to higher cost from power supply agreement and independent power producer triggered the increase.

Meralco added higher oil prices and peso depreciation also drove the hike. GB/Ryan Lesiguesag
